Is Your Website ADA Compliant?
As you may have heard in the news recently, ADA compliance is an important consideration for websites. Not being ADA-compliant means your site is less accessible to visitors with disabilities, and can also open you up to potential lawsuits.
The goal is to make sure that everyone has equal access to your site, including those with visual or mobility impairments. The good news is we have a way to make this easy for you if your website is on the WineDirect platform!
WGM now offers a $1500 ADA-compliance package for WineDirect sites.
This Package includes the following tasks and actions:
- Complete site audit for accessibility
- Ensure that all images have good ALT text where appropriate
- Check all links to be sure they contain clear, relevant text
- Check templates to be sure they have the language defined in the HTML code
- Add hidden “skip to main content” link at the top of all pages
- Check all text to be sure it has enough contrast and is easily read
- Add scripting to close modal windows and cart popup when the escape key is pressed
- Make sure site is functional when page is zoomed up to 200%
- Run site through online accessibility checker to identify and correct any other issues
WineDirect is currently working on addressing other accessibility issues system-wide, including improvements to forms and buttons. Once complete, and combined with the changes we’ll take care of listed above, your site will be much more accessible and will follow ADA requirements as far as practicable.
